AMD Radeon cards can run NVIDIA DLSS 5 via new mod
Modders have developed a Windows-based mod, titled ‘DLSS-NR on AMD’, which enables NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 Neural Rendering technology to run on AMD Radeon graphics cards. The project, hosted on GitHub, is a complete reimplementation of the neural network runtime specifically for AMD architectures rather than a simple adapter for NVIDIA code.
The mod is currently in an alpha stage and targets the Radeon RX 9000 and RX 7000 series. It functions by integrating with DirectX 12 games that already utilize AMD’s FSR technology. Early testing on Cyberpunk 2077 has shown significant performance improvements through rapid updates; one recent alpha version helped increase frame rates from approximately 30 fps to 50 fps on an RX 9070 XT at 3440 x 1440 resolution.
While the mod offers a way to access advanced rendering features, users are advised to exercise caution as it is still in development. Installation requires placing the installer in the game's executable folder and using Windows 11 with specific Adrenalin drivers.
