AMD Raises Radeon GPU Prices by Up to 25% Amid Global Memory Shortage
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced that wholesale prices for its Radeon GPU kits will increase by roughly 15 % to 25 % as the cost of GDDR6 and GDDR7 memory surges. The company attributes the rise to a severe shortage of graphics‑memory chips, caused by major manufacturers such as Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron shifting capacity to high‑bandwidth memory for AI servers. The higher component costs are being passed to board partners like ASUS, Sapphire, XFX and MSI and are expected to flow through to end‑users.
The price adjustment follows Nvidia’s recent GPU price hikes and affects the full range of current Radeon generations, with high‑end models that use 16 GB of VRAM or more seeing the steepest increases. Analysts warn that the memory scarcity could persist until at least 2028, keeping pressure on PC‑gaming hardware prices worldwide.
