AMD releases Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition

A historical retrospective marks August 20 as a significant date in computing history. In 2001, HP introduced the DVD100i, the first DVD+RW burner capable of rewriting specific media for $600, signaling the transition from video cassettes to the DVD format.

In 2007, AMD released the Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Black Edition. Despite being part of the Black Edition series, the processor did not offer a freely selectable multiplier. Manufactured using the older 90-nanometer process, it served as the final high-end Athlon processor before AMD shifted its focus to the Phenom architecture to compete with Intel's Core 2 series.
