AMD approaches $1 trillion market cap on AI demand

AMD is approaching a $1 trillion market capitalization as its share price has crossed the $600 threshold. This growth is driven by a significant rally in 2026, fueled by high demand for data center hardware and AI accelerators.

In its second quarter of 2026, the company reported revenue of $11.5 billion, representing a gain of over 50% compared to the previous year. The data center segment specifically saw revenue more than double. Key drivers for this performance include the launch of the Helios rack-scale AI platform and the Instinct MI400 series GPUs, which are designed for large-scale AI training and inference workloads.

Major technology firms, including Microsoft Azure, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta, are reportedly working with AMD on Helios deployments. While AMD is approaching a major valuation milestone, it remains smaller than primary competitors like Nvidia and Broadcom in the AI chip and networking sectors.
