AMD technologies featured in new Capcom game and hardware leaks

AMD technologies are appearing in new gaming hardware and software contexts. The upcoming title ‘Onimusha: Way of the Sword’ from Capcom will utilize AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 3.1 on PC. This suite of technologies includes upscaling and frame generation to improve image clarity and framerates by rendering at a lower internal resolution and reconstructing the image for the monitor.

Separately, leaked AMD driver files have revealed a new semi-custom chip codenamed ‘Gainsborough,’ built on TSMC’s N3P process. The leak has fueled speculation regarding a potential successor to the Steam Deck. The codename follows a naming convention used for the original Steam Deck, which was codenamed ‘Aerith.’ While Valve has stated it will only release a second-generation handheld when a chip offers a significant generational leap in performance and efficiency, the Gainsborough chip details—including a compact package and potential links to a Ryzen Z3 chip—have drawn significant interest from the portable gaming community.
