AMD expands FSR 4.1 upscaling technology to RX 6000 and Xbox

AMD has announced the expansion of its machine learning-based upscaling technology, FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4.1, to a wider range of hardware. The update, included in the Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 drivers, brings support to the Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, effectively moving the release date forward from its original 2027 target.

In addition to older desktop GPUs, FSR 4.1 will support AMD Ryzen AI Max and Ryzen AI 9 processors, as well as handheld gaming devices equipped with Ryzen Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 Extreme, and Ryzen Z2 A processors. AMD has also confirmed that the technology will soon arrive on Xbox Series X|S consoles, with implementation details pending from Microsoft.

The new version utilizes an optimized AI model to improve image clarity and motion smoothness compared to FSR 3.1. For devices with more limited computing power, such as handhelds, AMD has developed a lightweight version of the model that is less than half the size of the full version. The update also includes optimizations for several titles, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Final Fantasy Resonance.
