AMD to raise prices on GPUs, AI accelerators, and chipsets

AMD is reportedly preparing to increase prices by approximately 10% for several of its key components, including GPUs, AI accelerators, and chipsets, starting in the fourth quarter of this year. This move follows price hikes from TSMC, which has increased manufacturing costs for various processes—ranging from advanced 2nm to older 16nm and 28nm technologies—by roughly 10% to 15%.

The price adjustments are expected to impact a wide range of hardware. While the exact impact on CPUs remains somewhat unclear, reports suggest that chipsets used in motherboards, which rely on older manufacturing processes, will see increased costs. This may lead to higher retail prices for motherboards as manufacturers pass on the increased component costs to consumers.

This trend aligns with recent industry movements, including a similar 10% price increase planned by Intel. The broader semiconductor market is facing upward pressure on costs due to rising production expenses at major foundries like TSMC.
