AMD Unveils AI‑Focused EPYC Venice CPUs and Helios Rack System
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced a new generation of server processors called EPYC “Venice”, based on the Zen 6 architecture and built on a 2 nm process. The lineup offers up to 256 cores per chip and is positioned for AI‑intensive workloads. At the same event AMD introduced the Helios rack‑scale AI system, which integrates 72 Instinct MI455X GPUs and 18 EPYC Venice CPUs to deliver a total GPU capacity of up to 2 GW. A strategic partnership with Anthropic will supply the first 1 GW of this capacity from early‑2027, with the full 2 GW target planned thereafter. AMD also revealed collaborations with several partners: VAST Data will combine EPYC Venice CPUs and future Instinct GPUs into its VAST AI Operating System; ASUS announced new server series powered by EPYC 9006 processors for enterprise AI; Advantech launched AI and edge server platforms using the same CPUs; Cisco and AMD partnered to bundle Ryzen AI Halo hardware with Cisco security and management software for distributed enterprise AI; ARBOR introduced a COM‑HPC module featuring AMD Ryzen AI Embedded X100 processors delivering up to 126 TOPS of AI performance. Together these announcements signal AMD’s push to supply a complete, open‑source‑friendly AI infrastructure stack across data‑center and edge environments.
