AMD unveils Threadripper Halo Station AI workstation

AMD has unveiled the Threadripper Halo Station, a high-performance workstation described as a ‘personal supercomputer’ designed for advanced artificial intelligence tasks. Introduced by Senior Vice President Jack Huynh at the Internationale Funkausstellung in Berlin, the system aims to bring data-center level capabilities to a desktop footprint.

The liquid-cooled workstation features up to 96 Threadripper Pro cores, two MI350P data center accelerators, and a massive memory architecture. This includes up to 2 terabytes of system RAM and 576 gigabytes of HBM3E high bandwidth memory. According to Huynh, the machine is capable of running AI models with more than a trillion parameters locally.

Targeting institutional and corporate buyers, the device is intended to reduce reliance on expensive cloud computing by allowing organizations to host large language models and agentic AI on their own hardware. While a specific price has not been officially confirmed, it is expected to exceed €100,000. The Threadripper Halo Station is slated for release early next year and competes directly with the Nvidia DGX Station.
