AMDC completes retaining wall construction in Colonia 21 de Octubre

The Municipal Mayor's Office of the Central District (AMDC) has completed the construction of a retaining wall and complementary infrastructure on the main street of Colonia 21 de Octubre. The project was initiated following the collapse of an old masonry wall that supported part of the roadway.

The new structure measures approximately 20 meters in length and 5.80 meters in height. In addition to the wall, the intervention included the reconstruction of the rainwater drainage system, including pipes, gutters, and storm drains, to mitigate future structural risks. Safety improvements featured a rehabilitated pedestrian sidewalk and the installation of a metal railing to protect residents due to the elevation difference between the main road and the lower street.

The municipal investment for these works totaled approximately 2.8 million lempiras. The project aims to improve safety and circulation for the roughly 9,500 vehicles that pass through the sector daily, as well as for pedestrians accessing nearby educational centers and medical facilities.
