Amealco community leaders to expand women's support services

The Querétaro State Secretariat for Women (SEMUJERES) is establishing a network of community leaders in Amealco to expand the reach of the ‘Nuju Gąthohû’ strategy. The initiative aims to bring prevention, care, and support services directly to various communities within the municipality.

Derived from an inter-institutional and community diagnosis, the ‘Nuju Gąthohû’ strategy—which means ‘Together we flourish’ in the Hñähñu language—includes 96 specific actions. These are divided into 61 prevention measures and 35 care-oriented actions. The program focuses on building communities free of violence, shared care, economic autonomy, and inter-institutional strengthening.

Community leaders will act as a link between local women and available services, which include legal advice, psychological support, and referrals for legal representation in high-risk cases. The group will also assist in disseminating information regarding rights and community organization to ensure services reach priority areas.
