Ameca official calls to end tradition of throwing child from balcony

During a patriotic commemoration in Ameca, Jalisco, a student from Colegio Niños Héroes de Ameca was thrown from the second floor of the Municipal Presidency to reenact the heroic feat of the Niños Héroes. The child, dressed in a military-style uniform and wrapped in a Mexican flag, was caught by personnel from Civil Protection using a cloth to prevent injury. While the student reportedly emerged unhurt, the act sparked significant social media attention and concern.

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus has called on the municipal president of Ameca to end the practice, describing it as an unsafe tradition. Lemus emphasized that traditions should not jeopardize the safety of children and urged local authorities to prevent such high-risk activities from occurring in public buildings.
