Amelia Dimoldenberg calls for networking support to help young people find work

YouTube personality Amelia Dimoldenberg has stated that young people require “nepotism” to break out of the employment rejection loop. Speaking to The Big Issue, the ‘Chicken Shop Date’ creator addressed the challenges faced by the NEET (not in education, employment, or training) generation, noting that one in eight young people in England falls into this category.

Dimoldenberg argued that the difficulties facing young people are structural, citing mental health struggles, regional inequalities, and the reduction of youth services as primary barriers. She suggested that many individuals possess the necessary skills for employment but lack the connections required to secure opportunities, stating, “They just need someone to open a door for them.”

In response to these challenges, Dimoldenberg launched the Dimz Inc. Academy in 2023, which provides media training, industry mentorship, and paid summer work placements. She encouraged those with professional networks to assist by offering work experience placements to help bridge the gap.
