Amendolara investigation: Lawyers file lawsuit over social media threats

Lawyers Giulia Montilli and Giovanni Brandi Cordasco Salmena have filed a lawsuit at the Court of Castrovillari following insults and threats directed at them on social media. The legal action follows the intense media scrutiny surrounding the investigation into the Amendolara tragedy, in which four foreign agricultural workers were found carbonized inside a burned minivan near a service station in June.

The lawyers, who are defending two Pakistani citizens under investigation in the case, claim that while much of the online commentary remained within the bounds of dissent, certain social media posts crossed into heavy accusations and personal threats. The lawsuit was presented through their special attorney, Andrea Maggiulli.
