United States AI Trust and Adoption Gap Widens
A new Center Square poll finds that 57% of American voters have little or no trust in artificial intelligence for delivering news about politics and current events, with older adults and lower‑income respondents expressing the most skepticism.
At the same time, a Pew Research Center survey shows that AI adoption in the United States has surged, with 49% of adults now using chatbots such as ChatGPT, yet only 16% believe AI will benefit society in the long run. The gap between rapid consumer uptake and low public confidence is echoed in corporate settings. EY analysts warn of a “tempo gap” where AI‑driven speed outpaces human comprehension, while other experts note that most companies see modest productivity gains because AI tools are layered onto existing workflows rather than reshaping them.
These findings highlight a growing disconnect between the speed of AI integration and the trust and organizational changes needed to realize its promised benefits.
