American Airlines Airbus A330s return to service via Sun PhuQuoc and Israir

Airbus A330 aircraft previously operated by American Airlines, which were retired during the pandemic, are being reintegrated into active service by other carriers.

Vietnam-based leisure startup Sun PhuQuoc Airways is acquiring eight Airbus A330-243s. The airline expects to receive four aircraft by the end of 2026, with an additional four scheduled for delivery in the first four months of 2027. These aircraft are approximately 12 to 13 years old.

Additionally, two of the former American Airlines A330-200s have been acquired by Israir. One aircraft is already performing short-haul flights for crew familiarization, and the airline intends to utilize the fleet for service between Tel Aviv and New York. These planes had previously been moved through aircraft trader Jetran after being placed in storage in 2020.
