American Airlines and Starlux Airlines announce codeshare partnership

American Airlines and Taiwan-based Starlux Airlines are expanding their cooperation from a basic interline agreement to a reciprocal codeshare partnership. The new arrangement is expected to launch as early as September 30, 2026.

Under the initial agreement, American Airlines will place its code on Starlux flights connecting Taipei Taoyuan to Los Angeles, Ontario, San Francisco, and Seattle. Conversely, Starlux Airlines will place its code on American Airlines' domestic flights departing from Los Angeles and Phoenix.

While this codeshare represents a higher level of cooperation than an interline agreement, it does not constitute a joint venture, meaning the carriers will not coordinate fares or schedules. The partnership may eventually lead to loyalty program reciprocity, though that has not been confirmed.
