American Airlines crew expresses frustration to delayed passengers
Passengers on American Airlines Flight 271 from Los Angeles to Kahului experienced significant delays and unprofessional conduct from crew members following a mechanical issue. The original aircraft, which had a stuck gear door, was forced to return to LAX.
Upon boarding a replacement aircraft, passengers reported that flight attendants expressed intense frustration regarding their scheduling. One crew member stated, “I’ve been up almost 24 hours,” explaining that the crew had expected to fly to New York and were not informed of the change in assignment. The attendant noted that the airline had failed both the passengers and the crew.
Witnesses described the replacement crew as indignant and irritated, with some staff members verbalizing complaints about the company directly to travelers. Despite the tension, the crew apologized for the wait and committed to flying the passengers to Maui safely. The flight eventually arrived approximately five hours late.
