American Airlines faces Q3 reporting amid fuel and debt concerns

American Airlines is scheduled to report its third-quarter 2026 results on Thursday, October 22. The company previously guided to an adjusted loss between $0.10 and $0.70 per share, with revenue growth expected between 16% and 19%.

Rising fuel costs and debt levels are significant concerns for the carrier. In the second quarter of 2026, American reported record revenue of $16.7 billion, yet earned only $71 million in GAAP profit as fuel expenses rose by over $2.2 billion.

Other major airlines are facing similar pressures. Delta Air Lines recently reported a decline in adjusted operating margins and a 62% increase in its fuel bill, leading to a reduction in full-year earnings guidance. United Airlines is also expected to report results, with previous guidance suggesting the airline would recover a significant portion of fuel cost increases through higher revenue.
