American Airlines flight diverted after passenger attacked crew and travelers

An American Airlines flight from Dallas to Newark was diverted to Baltimore after a 67-year-old passenger, identified as Layne Arthur Lundeen, became violent and disruptive. Witnesses reported that the man, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, shouted racial and homophobic slurs and physically attacked other passengers and crew members.

To maintain safety, passengers and crew members worked together to restrain the man using zip ties and duct tape. The individual remained secured to his seat for the remainder of the flight until the aircraft landed in Baltimore. Upon arrival, local police and the FBI took the man into custody. He faces charges including second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Following the incident, the man's employer in Tucson, Arizona, announced his immediate termination.
