American Airlines receives first Embraer E175 with upgraded RECARO seats

American Airlines has received its first Embraer E175 equipped with new-generation RECARO passenger seats. The delivery marks a milestone in the airline’s cabin modernization program, which aims to provide a regional flight experience more consistent with its mainline aircraft.

The new slimline seats are designed to maximize personal space and knee room while maintaining cushion comfort. This upgrade is part of a broader initiative announced in 2025 to update various aircraft used by American Eagle services, including E170s, E175s, CRJ700s, and CRJ900s. The modernization program also includes the addition of seat power and high-speed Wi-Fi.

American Airlines is currently expanding its regional fleet through a 2024 order for 90 Embraer E175s, with purchase rights for an additional 43 aircraft. The E175 is a key component of the airline’s strategy to replace smaller 50-seat regional jets.
