American Airlines to Deploy Starlink Wi‑Fi and Overhaul Legacy Technology Platform

American Airlines announced that it will begin installing SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service on more than 500 aircraft starting in early 2027. The move is intended to improve in‑flight connectivity, a factor that influences passenger choice and loyalty, and to help the carrier differentiate itself from rivals such as United, Delta, Southwest and Alaska Air.

The airline’s broader technology transformation is also under way.
