American Airlines to fund employee Trump Accounts
American Airlines has announced it will contribute $1,000 to ‘Trump Accounts’ for eligible children of its employees, matching a $1,000 seed contribution from the federal government. These accounts are available to U.S. citizens born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, who possess valid Social Security numbers.
The airline plans to allow employees to make pretax payroll contributions to these accounts for dependent children once government employer rules are finalized. It is estimated that approximately one-third of the company’s workforce may be eligible for the payroll feature.
While the airline has not released an official budget, estimates suggest the one-time payments could cost the company between $8 million and $18 million. The company specifically expressed gratitude to Congress and the Trump administration for the creation of these accounts.
