American Airlines updates cabin service and maintenance
American Airlines is undergoing significant changes to its cabin configurations and maintenance protocols. The airline is in the process of phasing out its long-haul First Class service in favor of expanded Business Class offerings. While the transition was originally intended to conclude by late 2024, delays involving the Airbus A321 XLR and Boeing 777-300 ER retrofits have extended the availability of First Class seats through the summer of 2027.
Simultaneously, the carrier is addressing issues regarding cabin quality. Following internal admissions of frequent equipment failures—including broken seats, inoperative entertainment systems, and faulty tray tables—American Airlines is launching the ‘One Cabin’ program. Starting September 14, more than 60 maintenance specialists will be deployed at major hubs, including Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, and Phoenix, to specifically focus on repairing and maintaining aircraft interiors.
