American athlete breaks Zakynthos restrictions for marriage proposal

American athlete Johnny DeJulius has drawn criticism after performing a marriage proposal at the restricted Navagio Beach in Zakynthos, Greece. Despite clear legal prohibitions and safety warnings due to landslide risks, DeJulius used a parasail to land on the forbidden beach, while his partner approached the site by boat.

DeJulius, a former wrestler from Ohio State University now involved in extreme sports, acknowledged the illegality of his actions in social media videos, stating, “It is practically illegal what I am doing.”

The incident has sparked a divide on social media. While some users expressed admiration for the romantic gesture, many others condemned the disregard for local laws and safety regulations governing the restricted and controlled access zones of the beach.
