American Black Film Festival to move to Los Angeles in 2027

The American Black Film Festival (ABFF) will relocate to Los Angeles for its 31st edition, scheduled for May 20–23, 2027. This move marks the end of a 24-year tenure in Miami, though the festival previously held events in Los Angeles between 2007 and 2010.

Planned venues for the 2027 event include AMC The Grove for screenings, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures for marquee events, the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills as an industry hub, and the Original Farmers Market for community activations.

ABFF founder and NICE CROWD CEO Jeff Friday stated the relocation is intended to expand opportunities for the next generation of storytellers and increase the festival's impact. New programming initiatives for the Los Angeles edition will include ‘ABFF First Look: The Studio Showcase’, ‘ABFF Sports’, and ‘Crossroads’.
