American Chamber of Commerce launched in Malawi

The American Chamber of Commerce in Malawi (AMCHAM Malawi) has been officially launched in Blantyre, marking a new phase in economic cooperation between Malawi and the United States.

US Chargé d’Affaires Melania Arreaga stated that the chamber will serve as a platform for American and Malawian businesses to deepen commercial partnerships. She highlighted Malawi’s mining sector as a primary area for potential US investment, noting that the country’s critical mineral resources could help strengthen US supply chains and reduce dependence on adversaries.

Malawian private sector leaders, including Daisy Kambalame of the Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, welcomed the initiative. They noted the chamber's potential to facilitate investment and create new avenues for business growth in both nations. The launch event was supported by the NICO Group, which hosted a networking event to encourage engagement between stakeholders and investors.
