Costa Rica authorities dismantle Sinaloa Cartel and Tren de Aragua links

Costa Rican authorities conducted multiple operations targeting international criminal organizations. In one series of raids supported by the DEA, police detained five individuals—three Costa Ricans, one Mexican, and one Peruvian—suspected of links to the Sinaloa Cartel. During these operations in Sabana Sur, Alajuela, and Esparza, authorities seized 3 kilograms of cocaine, weapons, and cash.

In a separate operation near the Panamanian border in the community of Mariposa, the Drug Control Police and Public Force seized 312 kilograms of cocaine from a vehicle.

Additionally, the National Intelligence and Security Directorate (DIS) captured a Panamanian national suspected of ties to the Tren de Aragua criminal group. The individual, who had been sought for six years, was handed over to Panamanian authorities. He is allegedly linked to several criminal groups operating in Costa Rica and Panama.
