American conservatism faces foreign influence and internal ideological shifts

The American conservative movement is facing internal and external pressures. Reports highlight efforts by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to conduct influence operations within the United States. These tactics, often referred to as ‘United Front’ work, involve using economic incentives, funding networks, and soft power—such as Confucius Institutes and media stakes—to manipulate decision-makers and reshape public policy in favor of authoritarian interests.

Simultaneously, internal ideological shifts are occurring within the Republican party. Joel Webbon, a Texas pastor and founder of Right Response Ministries, has gained attention for arguing that Republicans must embrace socialism to achieve political victory. Webbon, who promotes Christian nationalism, represents a growing strain of thought that critics argue deviates from traditional conservative principles of limited government and free markets.
