American Express expands premium hotel programs with 351 new properties

American Express has expanded its premium travel offerings by adding 351 new properties to its Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) and The Hotel Collection (THC) programs. This expansion, announced on August 12, 2026, increases the company’s total portfolio by approximately 10%, bringing the combined number of participating hotels to over 3,400 across 116 countries.

The selection was conducted by a dedicated Hotel Curation Team, which evaluates properties based on criteria informed by the spending and travel preferences of premium cardmembers. Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel, noted that the selection process reflects shifting consumer demand toward experiences over traditional amenities.

Cardmembers using the American Express Platinum Card can utilize statement credits for prepaid bookings within these programs. Benefits for Fine Hotels + Resorts include guaranteed 4 p.m. check-out, daily breakfast for two, room upgrades, and a $100 property credit. The Hotel Collection offers similar perks, such as room upgrades and early check-in, though it typically requires a minimum two-night stay.
