American Express launches limited-edition Mirror Design Platinum Cards in Japan

American Express International is launching a limited-edition ‘Mirror Design’ for its Platinum Card and American Express Business Platinum Card in Japan. This marks the first time the design, which features a reflective, mirror-like surface, has been released outside of the United States.

Applications for the new design are available from September 30 until February 1, 2027. Existing cardholders can switch to the Mirror Design for a fee of 7,700 yen. To celebrate the launch, a preview reception was held in Tokyo featuring actor Hio Miyazawa, a frequent user of the Platinum Card.

During the event, Miyazawa discussed how the card’s design, which changes appearance based on its surroundings, reflects the concept of ‘no two shines are the same.’ He also shared his personal experiences with travel and how the card’s benefits, such as early check-in and late check-out, support his lifestyle.
