American Express Platinum cardholders see changes to Lululemon and Hilton benefits

American Express Platinum cardholders are seeing changes to their card benefits involving Lululemon and Hilton.

Lululemon has implemented new terms that restrict the purchase of gift cards. The company’s website now states that customers may not use multiple forms of payment to purchase a gift card. This change complicates how cardholders utilize the quarterly $75 Lululemon credit provided by the American Express Platinum Card, as shoppers previously used multiple payment methods to purchase specific denominations. Additionally, many physical stores have moved toward selling gift cards in $50 increments, making it more difficult to use the exact $75 credit without purchasing higher-value cards.

Separately, American Express is issuing targeted email offers to select Platinum cardholders for a 90-day trial of Hilton Honors Diamond status. To retain this status through March 31, 2028, eligible members must complete 10 qualifying nights booked directly with Hilton during the trial period. Registration for this offer is scheduled to close on September 7, 2026.
