American Express shares attract increased institutional buying

Two major investment funds have recently adjusted their holdings in American Express Company (NYSE: AXP). Capital Wealth Planning LLC trimmed its position by 0.8% in the fourth quarter, selling 16,618 shares and ending the period with 2,152,624 shares—about 0.31% of the company and valued at roughly $798.5 million, making it the fund’s second‑largest holding. In contrast, Cerity Partners LLC expanded its stake by 6.7% during the same quarter, adding 12,565 shares to bring its total to 198,900 shares worth approximately $73.6 million. Both funds are part of a broader group of institutional investors that collectively own about 84.33% of American Express’s outstanding stock. The company recently reported quarterly earnings of $4.28 per share on $14.22 billion in revenue and announced a $0.95 dividend payable on August 10.
