American Express updates Platinum card benefits and Airbnb integration
American Express has announced a series of updates to its Platinum card suite, including a new partnership with Airbnb. Eligible U.S. Card Members can now book over 1 million Airbnb listings, including city apartments and premium residences, through Amex Travel to earn Membership Rewards points. This expansion includes the ability to use the annual $600 Lodging Credit toward Airbnb Luxe properties.
Significant changes to the lodging credit are scheduled for January 1, 2027. At that time, bookings at Fine Hotels + Resorts will require a minimum two-night stay to qualify for the semi-annual statement credits. The benefit is also being rebranded from a “Hotel Credit” to a “Lodging Credit.”
For Business Platinum Card members, new benefits include membership to ZO Workspaces by Tishman Speyer, providing access to clubhouses and lounges in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. However, effective February 17, 2027, certain existing perks will be narrowed. The monthly wireless credit will be restricted to a specific list of providers, and the 2X shipping category will only apply to select merchants like UPS, FedEx, and the USPS.
