American Federation of Teachers funds various left-leaning nonprofits

Annual filings with the Department of Labor reveal that the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) has directed significant funds toward various left-leaning nonprofit organizations and advocacy groups.

According to the filings, the AFT provided $250,000 to the Center for American Progress. Other contributions include $100,000 each to Emily’s List, the National Action Network, and the American Prospect. Additionally, the union gave $75,000 to the Bill, Hillary, & Chelsea Clinton Foundation and $10,000 to the Human Rights Campaign.

Michael Watson, a research director at the Capital Research Center, characterized these expenditures as ‘political advocacy by another name,’ suggesting the funding supports a network of organizations that advance specific political causes and policy development.
