American Hockey League releases 2026-27 season schedule

The American Hockey League (AHL) announced its full 2026-27 regular‑season schedule, featuring 32 teams each playing 72 games for a total of 1,152 contests. The season opens on Friday, Oct. 2 and concludes on Sunday, Apr. 11. Notable milestones include the Hamilton Hammers debuting as the New York Islanders’ affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers’ final season at the Saddledome, and several clubs marking anniversary seasons such as the Providence Bruins (35th) and the Hartford Wolf Pack (30th). The league’s opening weekend will host eight games on Oct. 2, the earliest start since 2009, and the historic 90‑year‑later match‑up between the Hershey Bears and Springfield Thunderbirds on Nov. 7.

The Providence Bruins’ specific itinerary was detailed, with the team opening at home against Utica on Oct. 2, followed by a series of home and road games through April. Highlights include home games versus Springfield, Hartford, Charlotte and a six‑game road stretch in late October and early November. The schedule also outlines the Bruins’ 2027 segment, beginning with an early‑year road trip to Springfield and continuing with a mix of home and away contests against league rivals. The release emphasizes the AHL’s role as the primary development league for all 32 NHL clubs.
