American immigrant Sandy Goldstein celebrates 105th birthday
Sandy Goldstein, an American immigrant to Israel, is preparing to celebrate his 105th birthday on August 28. Alongside his wife, 100-year-old Rosalie Goldstein, the couple is among the oldest living olim (immigrants) in the country.
The couple moved from Englewood, New Jersey, to Netanya in March 2023 at the ages of 102 and 97, respectively. Sandy Goldstein, a former certified public accountant who served the U.S. government in Washington during World War II, expressed that his only regret was not making aliyah sooner, noting that he was previously told he was too old to undergo the process.
Goldstein, who was active in Jewish community causes and worked with the Jewish Defense League to support Soviet Jews seeking emigration, encourages others not to wait to make Israel their home. He credits the influx of Soviet Jews with fundamentally transforming and building the modern State of Israel.
