Houston Astros manage pitching changes and injury updates

The Houston Astros are facing pitching challenges as they continue their series against the Los Angeles Angels. Following a recent series loss to the Seattle Mariners, the Astros are looking for stability on the mound. Cristian Javier is scheduled to start, aiming to improve upon a season record of 1-3 and a 6.68 ERA.

During a recent game against the Angels, Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña suffered a left-hand contusion after being hit by a sinker. Manager Joe Espada confirmed that X-rays on the injury came back negative, suggesting it is not a long-term setback despite Peña's history of injuries this season.

In a roster move to address recent struggles, the Astros have announced the major league debut of 23-year-old Ethan Peck. To accommodate Peck, the team has transferred Brice Matthews to the 60-day injured list due to a severe knee sprain and sent Miguel Ullola to Triple-A.
