American Priorities super PAC funds progressive Democrats
A new network of wealthy donors is providing significant funding to progressive Democratic candidates through American Priorities, a super PAC established to counter the influence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
Federal Election Commission records indicate that the organization’s 12 largest donors contributed approximately $5.7 million during the 2025–2026 election cycle. The donor group is characterized as younger and more professionally diverse than traditional political contributors, with many working in technology and medicine. Notable contributors include technology executives Mohammad Waqas and Omer Hasan, who have donated over $2 million combined, as well as entrepreneurs Haroon and Idris Mokhtarzada.
The political momentum for these candidates has been linked to the success of figures such as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. American Priorities has utilized its funds to support various progressive candidates, including Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier, who won New York congressional primaries. While some campaign advertisements focused on affordability and endorsements, the underlying movement seeks to challenge traditional special-interest influence in American foreign policy.
