American Red Cross urges blood donations to maintain supply

The American Red Cross is calling for blood and platelet donations throughout October to ensure a stable supply for hospitals. The organization noted that while the need for blood is constant, unpredictable weather and potential natural disasters during the fall season can necessitate the rapid movement of blood products to different regions.

To encourage participation, the Red Cross has announced incentive programs. Donors contributing between September 21 and October 18, 2026, are eligible for a $15 e-gift card. For donations made between October 19 and November 22, 2026, donors can receive up to $20 in value, including a $10 Amazon gift card and bonus points redeemable through the Blood Donor Rewards program.

Scheduled donation drives are taking place across various locations, including Missouri and New Jersey, to support local communities and national needs.
