American single malt whiskey market sees new launches and major awards

The American single malt whiskey category continues to expand, highlighted by new product launches and industry recognition. Filmland Spirits has announced its first American Single Malt, ‘The Malted Mummy’. This 86-proof straight whiskey is crafted from 100 percent malted barley and aged for five years in Oak IPA barrels. The product is scheduled to premiere at BrewzleFest on August 29, 2026.

In the competitive landscape, the 2026 American Whiskey Masters awards recognized significant achievements in the category. Stranahan’s of Denver earned six Gold medals, while Warfield—produced by Sun Valley Distillery in Ketchum, Idaho—received the Master medal along with one Gold and one Silver. The American single malt market, which follows federal standards requiring 100 percent malted barley and maturation in specific oak casks, is projected to grow from USD 846.3 million in 2025 to USD 1500 million by 2035.
