American stink bugs increasingly entering homes
The American stink bug, an invasive species native to North America, is increasingly appearing in homes due to dropping temperatures. As these insects seek shelter for the winter, they are frequently found on walls, windowsills, and behind furniture.
Dr. Lech Bucholz, a regional nature conservator in Kielce, explains that while these insects are herbivorous and generally not dangerous to humans, they can cause discomfort. In rare instances where plant sap is unavailable, they may attempt to pierce human or animal skin. The primary nuisance is the unpleasant odor they emit when threatened, which can also contaminate food such as fruit.
