American tourist found dead in Phuket hotel room

An American tourist was found dead in a hotel room in Patong, Phuket, after failing to check out on schedule. Police were alerted on September 7 after the guest had overstayed his checkout by one day and had not been seen for approximately five days.

Officers entered the room using a spare key and discovered the man's body on the floor in front of a television. An initial investigation revealed no visible wounds, signs of a struggle, or evidence that the room had been ransacked. Hotel records indicate the man checked in on September 1, and a housekeeper last saw him outside his room on the afternoon of September 2.
