American Tungsten & Antimony advances US antimony supply chain with first ingots and refinery acquisition

American Tungsten & Antimony (ATAA) announced that its Antimony Canyon project in Utah has produced the first antimony ingots, smelted by XPS, a Glencore‑owned testing and technology firm. The ingots were described as a "metallurgical milestone" and demonstrate the project's mine‑to‑metal potential. Antimony, once considered a contaminant, is now classified as a minor critical mineral used in renewable energy, weapons and microelectronics, with China supplying about 48% of global production. ATAA’s managing director and CEO Andre Booyzen said the production provides tangible evidence that the company is on the right track.

In a related move, ATAA signed an agreement to acquire the Del Sol Refinery in Nevada and the White Spar Antimony Mine in Arizona. The acquisitions are intended to create a vertically integrated U.S. supply chain for antimony and tungsten, reducing reliance on foreign sources. CEO Casper Adson said the refinery will enable domestic production of antimony metal flake and, eventually, military‑specification antimony products, while also allowing expansion into tungsten APT production. The deal supports ATAA’s hub‑and‑spoke model that links its Utah Antimony Canyon project, other U.S. tungsten projects, and the new processing facilities.
