American Water Works and Service Corp International Post Q2 2026 Earnings
American Water Works (NYSE: AWK) reported adjusted earnings of $1.61 per share for the second quarter of 2026, up from $1.49 a year earlier, and reaffirmed its full‑year EPS guidance of $6.02‑$6.12. The company cited authorized rate increases in several states, cost controls, a $500 million long‑term debt issuance at 4.625% and ongoing acquisition activity. Rate cases in West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania authorized recovery of most capital investments, including a $75 million annual increase in Pennsylvania water and wastewater revenue.
Service Corporation International (NYSE: SCI) posted second‑quarter 2026 EPS of $0.90, a rise from $0.88 a year earlier, and maintained its full‑year EPS outlook midpoint of $4.20. Growth was driven by a 5% increase in comparable cemetery revenue, higher preneed sales and modest gains in funeral revenue. CEO Tom Ryan highlighted a strategy to expand sales‑counselor headcount and improve lead effectiveness, while noting that selling compensation currently weighs on margins but is expected to improve as deferred revenue is realized.
