Jamey Carney Murdered in Killarney, Ireland; Manhunt Ongoing

43‑year‑old American Jamey Carney, originally from Westchester County, New York, was found dead in her Killarney home on 7 July 2026 with severe head and neck injuries. Police have upgraded the case to a murder investigation. The Gardaí say a “person of interest” – described in Irish media as a Middle‑Eastern asylum seeker in his late 20s or early 30s who was known to Carney and had been living in state‑run accommodation – left Ireland in the early hours of the same day, before the body was discovered. An international manhunt has been launched; ports and airports are on alert and Irish authorities are working with the UK, British police and other overseas law‑enforcement partners. Detectives are appealing for CCTV and dash‑cam footage from the Muckross Road area between 23:00 on 6 July and 05:00 on 7 July. The investigation is being led by the Garda Serious Crime Unit with support from the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Garda National Immigration Bureau. The killing has shocked the Killarney community and prompted comments from local politicians and national leaders.
