Americans for Prosperity-Alabama launches statewide regulatory reform tour

Americans for Prosperity-Alabama (AFP-AL) has launched the ‘Sweet Home Freedom Tour,’ a statewide initiative aimed at building public support for regulatory reform ahead of the 2027 legislative session. The tour features ten stops across Alabama throughout September.

A primary focus of the tour is the REINS Act, which seeks to transform the state’s regulatory environment. AFP-AL advocates argue that the current regulatory code contains over 117,000 restrictions, many of which are outdated or contradictory. State Director Adam Thompson stated that the goal is to prevent unelected bureaucrats from raising costs without legislative votes, asserting, ‘No vote? No rule.’

The organization noted that six neighboring states—Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee—have already enacted similar REINS-style legislation. Scheduled September stops include Huntsville, Sylacauga, Daphne, Cullman, Birmingham, Dothan, Decatur, Montgomery, Enterprise, and Tuscaloosa.
