Americas Society to host exhibition on the cultural impact of telenovelas
Americas Society will host a new exhibition titled ‘Telenovela’ starting September 9, 2026, in New York. Curated by Aimé Iglesias Lukin, the exhibition explores how contemporary Latinx and Latin American artists engage with the visual and conceptual richness of telenovelas.
The showcase positions the telenovela as a significant object of art historical research and a enduring pan-American phenomenon that transcends geographic borders and social stratification. The exhibition highlights how productions from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela have become international successes, contributing to the construction of cultural identities and providing a platform for social debate.
