Americas Working Group on Cybercrime meets to address regional threats
The 11th meeting of the Americas Working Group on Cybercrime brought together public and private sector experts, including representatives from INTERPOL, the World Economic Forum, and Paraguayan law enforcement agencies, to address the growing threat of digital crime in Latin America.
Participants highlighted that cybercriminals exploit jurisdictional differences and move infrastructure across borders faster than traditional organizations can respond. Key regional threats identified include ransomware, phishing, malware, financial fraud, the misuse of artificial intelligence, and cybercrime-as-a-service platforms.
The group emphasized that combating these threats requires converting intelligence into coordinated actions to dismantle criminal infrastructure. Addressing these issues is viewed as a critical regional necessity to protect businesses, public institutions, and economic stability.
