Amersfoort council nears decision on Isselt wind turbines

The Amersfoort municipal council is approaching a final decision regarding the installation of two wind turbines at the Isselt industrial estate. The Business Committee is currently reviewing various aspects of the controversial project.

Discussions held in early September included procedural reviews and the potential to deviate from standard distance requirements based on ‘Heavy Economic Interests’ or ‘Heavy Other Social Interests’ (ZEZAM). Upcoming committee meetings are scheduled to address safety concerns and formal views submitted regarding the draft permit, as well as the response from the Mayor and Aldermen. A binding advisory decision by the full municipal council is expected on October 14, 2026.
